November 2016 Athlete of the Month: Dan Wright

image1-5
Congratulations to Dan Wright on being named Athlete of the Month for November!  Dan is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet, as well as one of the hardest working individuals you will ever meet.  Being a husband, father of four, and a civil servant for Sangamon County Dan keeps himself busy.  Despite his hectic schedule, Dan still dedicates the time to come in and work his butt off, while doing it with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.  The hard work is paying off for Dan.  He recently checked off a long term goal of his by hitting his first Bar Muscle Up.  I speak for all the coaches when I say that was a very proud moment for all of us!
Congratulations to Dan Wright! It is well deserved. Please enjoy his AOTM profile..

2.Age, Occupation?
  • 37.  I am an Assistant State’s Attorney in Sangamon County. I love my job and consider it a privilege to go to work every day for the people of Sangamon County. I’m honored to workout at C3 alongside many of the fittest members of our law enforcement community (I’m looking at you, Kenton Manning!).
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
  • I heard about it from an old college friend 5 years before I showed up for On-Ramp, but always found a reason to put it off. Ultimately, I couldn’t delay any longer. I was in a mental and physical state I wasn’t happy with and needed a major change. Still a work in progress, but C3 continues to make me stronger – body and mind -every time I walk through the door.
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
  • CrossFit has changed my life immensely. While I don’t workout as much as I should and nutrition is not my biggest strength, I am working on both fronts. It gets me excited about starting the day and continued improvement.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
  • Regularly completing Rx’d workouts that include Double Unders. I’m chasing 25 unbroken by the end of this year and want to take that into increased proficiency.
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
  • October 18, 2016 at approximately 12:38 p.m. (With witnesses and video evidence) Bar. Muscle. Up. In my head, it was the greatest moment in the history of athletics.
7. What is your least favorite WOD to date?
  • I always cringe when I see DU’s because, individually and collectively, they are my nemesis.
8. What do you like most about Capital City CrossFit?
  • Brian’s hair. The C3 community is a very close second.  Seriously. What this needs is a song right now. The following tune by the incomparable Rick Astley best expresses my feelings for our C3 family.. https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ
9. Favorite movement?
  • Taking off my knee sleeves.
10. Least favorite movement?
